Subscriptions- To start, I’d like to say that it’s not the end of the world. Dizzywood is asking for subscriptions to pay their workers. They can’t go on forever on grants, donations, and incomes like that. Their workers need money or else they’ll quit. They need money to feed their families, pay for their houses, and even pay for their computers to make Dizzywood possible! We don’t have to pay that much either – it’s only $5 a year. That’s very cheap compared to other games, like Club Penguin ($57.95a year) or WebKinz, where you have to buy one of their plush animals (which aren’t the greatest quality – although the cow is really cute) which normally cost around $20. (About these other games: CP- The games are fun, but the graphics aren’t great and it’s not worth a subscription at all. The site is very crowded, even though they have millions of servers, and the chat system is irritating! — Webkinz- I have the LilKinz Cow, and the game isn’t that great. You can play games, but you don’t get many coins from them, and your plush animal only gets you 1 year of play on the site. I got mine 5 months ago, and probably only played 2 weeks. The point is to buy their toys and other items so you can get lots of coins (each animal gets you another 2000 coins) and items, which you can brag about. There is not a chat feature.) Dizzywood is worth at least $5 a year – just be grateful it’s not that much per month. Al though there IS a 1-Month subscription, the price goes down the longer you subscribe. Elf Island

Some of you are already aware of the new virtual game (which is still in it’s beta phase) Elf Island. The rest of you may not have even heard of it! Since many of you are freaking out and… (sniff) quitting Dizzywood because of the subscriptions, you should look into this game.

The story is very good! It’s about an elf colony who seek to bring good to the world, and they stumble across an island with a magic portal that takes them wherever good is needed. Occasionally you will be called to participate in GoodQuests – they’re like Dizzywood missions – and you need to use the portal to travel to the place needing help. It’s still being worked on, and the 10th group of players was just allowed in (each group has approximately 20 people, or around there).

To pre-register, go here and to see if you’ve been accepted to play, go here. Every once in a while they will announce a new Boat has arrived. These boats are groups of people that are allowed to play. If you find your pre-registration user name on one of the Boat lists, click here to finish your registration. You will need to give them an email address so they can send you an activation email, to confirm you are allowed to play the game (by your parents.) They do not send you anything other than an activation email, at least not yet. (Again, I must reference Neopets – they used to not send you emails about the NC Mall, but these you can tell them not to send you, so I assume Elf Island will be the same.)

I’ll shortly start blogging about Elf Island as well, and will probably put my pixel pets on that blog as well. I feel they should be separated, and I can do what I want can’t I? =P

P.S. Subscriptions are optional and you will still be able to do everything you used to! Only the major missions are for subscribing users, and I’m sure it won’t be that terrible. =)
